India Cuts CNG, Piped Gas Prices
India has decided to lower the prices of CNG (compressed natural gas) and piped natural gas for homes.
This change is because of a new rule that makes it cheaper to move natural gas around the country.
The price cuts are different in different places, but overall, people will pay less for their gas.
This is good news for people who use CNG in their cars and for those who use piped gas in their homes.
The government wants more people to use natural gas because it's cleaner than other fuels.
By making it cheaper, they hope more people will switch to natural gas.
Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) has reduced CNG and piped natural gas prices by up to Rs 4 per kg/SCM.
The price reduction varies by geography, with different cuts in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Central and Eastern India.
The reduction follows PNGRB's tariff reform, which streamlined gas transportation charges and lowered input costs for city gas distributors.
Effective January 1, 2026, PNGRB's new tariff order has consolidated three gas transportation zones into two, applying a uniform Zone-1 tariff of Rs 54 per million British thermal unit nationwide.
The simplified structure removes regional inefficiencies and directly translates into lower consumer prices, encouraging wider adoption of cleaner fuels.
