Yogendra Yadav Says Election Commission Press Note Deepens Impeachment Case
Yogendra Yadav wrote an opinion column about the Chief Election Commissioner.
Earlier, he said an impeachment motion might matter even if it was mostly symbolic.
He now says he had underestimated the situation.
This change came after an investigation by The Indian Express.
Yadav says the investigation raised serious concerns.
He also says the Election Commission released a statement about the issue.
In his view, that statement made the concerns even stronger.
He therefore continues to support the Opposition-led impeachment motion.
The excerpt does not explain the Commission’s full defense.
Yogendra Yadav revises his earlier assessment of the impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
He says an investigation by The Indian Express revealed more serious concerns than he had previously imagined.
Yadav describes the investigation as among the finest pieces of investigative journalism in recent times.
He argues that the Election Commission’s own statement removed any remaining doubt about the matter.
The column supports an Opposition-led impeachment motion, while the supplied excerpt does not detail the Commission’s response.
