Elder Abuse in India: A Grim Reality and Challenges
Imagine some older people are being hurt or treated badly by those meant to care for them, like family.
This is a big problem in India.
Many elderly people can't speak up.
To fix this, we need to teach young people to help, create housing where young and old live together, and make sure the laws protect the elderly.
The current laws aren't strong enough.
We need to work together to stop this from happening.
Elder abuse in India is a significant problem, often perpetrated by family members and caretakers.
Vulnerable elderly with physical or mental decline are the primary victims, suffering in silence.
Drastic measures are needed to address elder abuse, especially with the projected increase in the elderly population.
Strategies include involving Generation Z, promoting integrated housing, and strengthening legal protections.
Existing legal systems and police assistance are considered inadequate for protecting the elderly.
