ED Accuses Mamata Banerjee of Interfering in I-PAC Raids
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in India has gone to the Supreme Court, saying that West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, got in the way of their investigation.
The ED was raiding offices and a director's home linked to I-PAC, a group that helps the TMC with elections.
The raids were about a case involving coal smuggling and money laundering.
The ED claims that Banerjee took away important documents during the raid.
They want the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case.
The next court hearing is on January 14, 2026.
The TMC says the ED is trying to access their election plans and disrupt their work.
The West Bengal police have also filed a complaint against the ED officers.
ED alleges Mamata Banerjee interfered with raids by taking away key evidence and obstructing the investigation.
Raids conducted at I-PAC office and director Pratik Jain's home in connection with coal smuggling and money laundering.
ED seeks CBI probe against Banerjee, alleging obstruction of lawful search operations.
Bengal government files caveat in Supreme Court and petitions in Calcutta High Court.
Next court hearing scheduled for January 14, 2026.
