Gujarat Wildlife Thrives: Lion, Ass, and Bird Populations Up
Gujarat is doing a great job protecting its wildlife!
They counted more lions this year (891) than before.
Also, there are more wild asses, about 7,672, and millions of birds that visit every year.
The dolphins are doing well too!
Gujarat also helps injured birds during the kite festival, saving most of them.
This is all because of the hard work and planning to take care of nature, which shows how important it is to protect animals and their homes.
Gujarat's lion population has reached 891, including 196 males and 330 females.
The wild ass population in Gujarat has grown to 7,672.
Gujarat hosts 1.8 to 2 million migratory birds annually.
680 dolphins were documented along Gujarat's coast.
Over 17,000 injured birds were treated in 2025 during the Karuna Abhiyan.
