British Virgin Islands pitches deeper financial ties with India

The British Virgin Islands, or BVI, wants to work more closely with India on finance and business.

Its representatives visited India for the territory’s first trade mission and roadshow.

The BVI is known for financial services and international companies.

It says its legal and business systems could help Indian companies expand abroad and raise money.

The BVI also wants more Indian lawyers and institutions to join its international network.

It suggested creating a special investment connection with GIFT City.

Indian legal leaders said stronger cooperation would need suitable rules.

The BVI says the partnership could support India’s long-term economic goals.
