Assam's Kokrajhar Shuts Down Over Rape of Mentally-Challenged Woman
In Assam's Kokrajhar district, a bandh was called on Sunday to protest the rape of a mentally-challenged woman.
The incident happened on Saturday in the Patharghat area, and the accused, Rafikul Islam, was caught quickly.
The bandh, organized by the World Hindu Federation, led to the closure of markets and businesses, and public transport was halted.
The police had to use force when the accused tried to escape, resulting in injuries to the accused and two policemen.
The administration is taking steps to maintain peace and has set up a special team to investigate the incident.
