Nashik Officials Plan Pilgrim Safety for Simhastha Kumbh Mela
A meeting was held in Nashik to plan how to keep people safe during a big religious festival called the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
Dr Pravin Gedam, who runs the local Kumbh Mela Authority, asked everyone to make a detailed plan.
The plan will help control crowds, keep roads clear, protect the river, and give people places to rest and get help.
They also talked about moving power lines and getting more land for the festival.
The plan was made with help from police, city officials, and other experts, and it learns from past festivals to make this one safer.
Divisional Commissioner Dr Pravin Gedam chaired a review meeting to develop a master plan for Sadhugram at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, prioritizing pilgrim safety.
The plan will address crowd management, traffic regulation, river conservation, drainage, emergency services, and facilities for Akharas and future expansion.
Officials discussed realigning high‑voltage MSEDCL power lines and securing additional land to expand Sadhugram infrastructure.
The meeting included police, municipal, and Kumbh Mela Authority officials, who reviewed technical parameters and projected pilgrim footfall.
Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh presented the master plan, noting lessons from past Simhastha events and consultations with Akharas.
