ED Claims Mehul Choksi's Son Involved in Money Laundering
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in India has said that Rohan Choksi, the son of fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi, was involved in money laundering.
Mehul Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi are accused of stealing a lot of money from Punjab National Bank.
The ED says Rohan Choksi owns almost all of a company called Luster Industries, which was used to move money illegally.
The ED wants to take away some of Rohan Choksi's things because of this.
Mehul Choksi ran away from India, and Nirav Modi is in jail in London.
The ED's new claim makes people wonder if they will investigate more family members.
ED claims Rohan Choksi was actively involved in money laundering alongside his father Mehul Choksi.
Rohan Choksi holds a 99.99% stake in Luster Industries, which was used to divert funds abroad.
Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi are accused of siphoning Rs 13,000 crore from Punjab National Bank.
Mehul Choksi fled India in 2018 and is facing extradition in Belgium.
