BJP Kisan Morcha Accuses Karnataka Government of Mishandling Drought
BJP Kisan Morcha leader A.S. Patil Nadahalli said Karnataka is facing a serious drought.
He said crops were damaged because of poor rainfall.
He also said lakes have dried up and groundwater has fallen.
Nadahalli called this a hydrological drought, meaning water supplies are affected more broadly.
He criticised a special Assembly meeting for not discussing the problem seriously enough.
He said farmers need clearer advice and stronger support from the government.
He also questioned the ₹2,500 assistance announced for farmers.
Nadahalli said electricity is often supplied to farms late at night, creating risks for farmers.
He asked Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to apologise to the people of Karnataka.
A.S. Patil Nadahalli demanded that Chief Minister D K Shivakumar apologise for remarks he described as insensitive toward farmers.
Nadahalli alleged that the special Assembly session on drought was conducted as a formality and lacked serious government discussion.
He said Karnataka was facing a hydrological drought, with dried lakes and depleted groundwater in addition to crop losses.
The BJP leader criticised the ₹2,500 assistance, irregular electricity supply and the government’s response to farmers’ concerns.
