Delhi to Prevent Fresh Waste Dumping at Landfills
Delhi is working on a plan to stop putting new trash into its old landfills, which are like giant trash mountains.
These landfills, at Bhalswa, Okhla, and Ghazipur, will be cleared.
Instead of adding more waste, the plan is to send new trash straight to special places to be sorted.
This will keep the landfills from getting bigger.
The trash will be separated into different types like food waste, paper and plastic, and electronics.
The goal is to clean up the old trash mountains and prevent new ones from forming.
The MCD is preventing fresh waste from being dumped in existing landfills.
Three landfill sites are in Bhalswa, Ghazipur, and Okhla.
New waste will go to processing sites and be sorted.
A site in Singhola has been identified for processing fresh waste.
The Delhi government aims to clear the landfills by next year.
