Telangana CM Urges PM to Finalize Tummidihetti Barrage Height
The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, asking for help to set the height of a big water dam called the Tummidihetti barrage.
The dam is part of a big project that brings water from the Godavari River to dry areas in Telangana.
The original plan was to build the dam at a height that would hold water up to 152 metres, but a meeting in 2016 made Maharashtra agree to a lower height of 148 metres.
The Chief Minister thinks 148 metres is not high enough to use the water efficiently and wants a slightly higher level.
He wants the Prime Minister to arrange a meeting with Maharashtra to decide the final height so the dam can help farmers and people get enough water.
Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy wrote to PM Narendra Modi on July 30 to finalize Tummidihetti barrage height.
The PMO forwarded the letter to the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti for action.
Original plan called for a full reservoir level (FRL) of +152 metres; Maharashtra agreed to +148 metres in 2016.
CM argues +148 metres is insufficient for cost‑effective gravity water use and operational flexibility.
Project aims to provide irrigation and drinking water to northern Telangana districts.
