Mizoram Seeks to Become First State to Complete Census 2027

Mizoram wants to be the first state to finish its work for Census 2027.

Census workers count people and collect information for the exercise.

Officials met in Aizawl to review how the next phase will be carried out.

Training for census staff is planned to finish in November.

Each enumerator is expected to cover about 800 people.

The count will include all 16 Scheduled Castes in Mizoram and refugees living there.

Officials said being counted will not give refugees Indian citizenship.

People who do not want to share Aadhaar numbers must not be forced to do so.

The Centre has set aside Rs 19.19 crore for this phase in Mizoram.
