Govt Launches GIRG for Global Index Monitoring
The Indian government has started a new project called GIRG to keep track of 26 important global reports.
These reports cover topics like the economy, development, governance, and industry.
The government works with 16 international organizations and has given responsibilities to 17 different ministries to make improvements.
They will review the methods used in these reports and make sure the latest Indian data is used.
The goal is to help India do better in these global reports.
There's also a new app called GoIStats that lets people access official statistical data easily.
The government launched the GIRG initiative to monitor 26 global indices for driving reforms and growth.
The Ministry compiles indices like GDP, CPI, and IIP following international standards and revises base years periodically.
The 26 indices are published by 16 international agencies covering economy, development, governance, and industry.
17 nodal ministries are responsible for reviewing methodologies and ensuring the use of latest Indian data.
The DMEO, NITI Aayog, serves as the knowledge partner and central coordinator for the GIRG exercise.
