Goyal-Greer Talks Aim To Advance Interim India-US Trade Deal

Goyal-Greer Talks Aim To Advance Interim India-US Trade Deal

India and the United States are trying to make a smaller trade agreement first.

This smaller agreement would be part of a larger planned trade deal.

India’s minister, Piyush Goyal, will meet U.S. trade representative Jamieson Greer to discuss the negotiations.

They will meet during a G20 trade ministers’ gathering in Milwaukee.

India wants trade rules to remain open and fair, especially for developing countries.

The United States wants countries to address issues such as excess production, forced labor and trade restrictions.

Goyal will also meet American business leaders to encourage investment and manufacturing partnerships in India.

The two countries still need to settle some unresolved issues before the interim agreement is completed.
