La Caisse Invests ₹12,100 Crore for 24% Altius Stake

La Caisse, a large Canadian pension investment group, bought part of an Indian telecom infrastructure company.

It paid about ₹12,100 crore for a 24% share of Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust.

Altius owns and operates more than 258,000 towers and other telecom sites across India.

These sites help mobile companies provide 4G and 5G services.

Brookfield is still the biggest investor in Altius.

Other institutional investors connected with GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation are also shareholders.

La Caisse said it knows the telecom tower business from investments around the world.

The investors expect India’s growing use of mobile data and 5G to increase demand for telecom infrastructure.
