Hasina to Hold First Press Conference Since Ouster
Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister of Bangladesh, will speak to the press for the first time since she was removed from office more than a year ago.
She plans to talk about how the country’s politics are going, ask for a return to democracy, and explain her future plans.
She has said she wants to come back to Dhaka, maybe in December 2026, to help her party, the Awami League, fight a legal ban.
She also said she is ready to face arrest or even death if she returns, because she thinks the legal actions against her are political.
This press conference is her first public appearance since leaving office.
Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold her first press conference on August 5 after being ousted in a student‑led uprising.
The conference will address Bangladesh’s political situation, call for democracy restoration, and outline her future plans.
Hasina has repeatedly said she intends to return to Dhaka, possibly around December 2026, to contest the legal ban on the Awami League.
She has stated she is ready to face arrest or death upon return, claiming the legal proceedings are politically motivated.
The press conference marks her first public appearance since leaving office more than a year ago.
