Second Arrest Made in Bengaluru Interstate Counterfeit Drug Racket

Police in Bengaluru are investigating a group accused of making and selling fake medicines.

They arrested Balasubramanian in Chennai on Tuesday.

Police say he worked with Prashanth Rajan Babu at a pharmaceutical company called DM Pharma.

Prashanth was arrested the day before at Bengaluru airport after returning from Azerbaijan.

Investigators say cheap drugs were put into new vials and given labels resembling expensive imported brands.

A raid near Bidadi found suspected fake and expired medicines worth nearly Rs 5 crore.

The medicines may have been supplied to hospitals and clinics.

Investigators are now questioning the accused and tracing where the medicines and money went.
