Hyderabad Officials Remove Signboards Using 'Santosh Dabha' Name
Imagine a popular restaurant called 'Santosh Dabha'.
Someone who owns this restaurant noticed many other places started using a very similar name to trick customers into thinking they were the original.
This made the owner upset, so he went to court.
The court agreed and told officials to take down the signs from the fake restaurants.
On Sunday, officials went to different parts of Hyderabad and removed signs from about 50 to 60 places that were using the 'Santosh Dabha' name without permission.
This was done to protect the original restaurant's brand and make sure customers know where they are really going.
Hyderabad officials removed signboards from eateries in multiple locations on Sunday.
The removal was a result of a city court order on a petition by the owner of 'Santosh Dabha'.
The petition stated that several establishments were illegally using the 'Santosh Dabha' brand name.
Approximately 50 to 60 signboards have been removed over the past two and a half years of legal pursuit.
Evidence collected will be presented to the court, and food service apps show numerous similarly named dhabas within a 15 km radius.
