Panchkula residents challenge Haryana's power tariffs
Some people from Panchkula, a city in India, went to a meeting to talk about electricity prices.
They said the prices in Haryana, the state they live in, are not fair.
They think people should pay the same fixed price for electricity no matter how much they use.
They also said that people in Chandigarh, a nearby city, pay much less for electricity.
The group asked the people in charge to make the prices fairer for everyone in Haryana.
A delegation from the Citizens Welfare Association (CWA) in Panchkula appeared before the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) to challenge electricity tariffs.
They argued that fixed charges are unfairly higher for certain categories of domestic consumers compared to others.
The delegation compared Haryana's fixed charges to those in Chandigarh, where consumers pay significantly less.
They also pointed out disparities in energy charges within domestic categories, saying it's unfair to charge different rates for the same level of consumption.
The CWA urged HERC to consider their submissions and take corrective steps in the public interest.
