Kerala plans panchayat-level battery storage for energy security

Kerala is planning to set up big batteries in local areas to store extra solar power during the day and use it at night.

This is because the state is using more electricity than it can produce, especially with more electric vehicles and air conditioners.

The rain has been less, so the big dams that make hydroelectric power don't have enough water.

The government is also dealing with issues like having to return borrowed electricity and problems with power lines from other states.

They are considering different ways to make more power, including possibly a nuclear plant, but no final decisions have been made yet.
