India Gas Prices Hold Steady as LPG Supply Plans Expand
The articles show the prices of three kinds of gas in Indian cities.
LPG is usually used in cooking cylinders, CNG is used in vehicles, and PNG comes through pipes.
The listed prices on August 18 and August 19 were the same.
A household LPG cylinder cost ₹942 in Delhi and ₹994 in Hyderabad.
LPG shortages caused people to use less LPG and switch to piped gas, wood-based fuels and kerosene.
The government wants oil companies to buy at least 15% of their 2027 LPG imports through US contracts.
It has also set production targets for 21 refineries and upstream companies to create a supply buffer.
The government plans to encourage more household PNG connections from September 1, 2026.
These steps are intended to reduce import dependence and help keep cooking fuel available.
LPG, CNG and PNG prices listed for August 18 and 19 were identical across the reported Indian cities.
A 14.2-kg household LPG cylinder cost ₹939.50 in Noida, ₹942 in Delhi and ₹994 in Hyderabad.
On August 19, commercial 19-kg LPG cylinders ranged from ₹2,691.50 in Mumbai to ₹2,985 in Hyderabad.
CNG prices ranged from ₹83.09 per kg in Delhi to ₹109 in Hyderabad, while PNG ranged from ₹48.40 per SCM in Gurugram to ₹54.70 in Chandigarh.
The government is seeking more US LPG imports, setting refinery production targets and encouraging PNG connections after shortages reduced LPG consumption.
