IIT Tirupati opens Inspire Works Makers Lab with Kia India
An engineering college called IIT Tirupati opened a new workshop named 'Inspire Works' Makers Lab.
A Makers Lab is a place where students can build and create things.
Students use tools and machines to turn their ideas into real working models.
The lab was made together with a car company called Kia India.
Leaders from the college and Kia India opened the lab in a special ceremony.
The two organizations agreed to work together in May 2025.
Kia India plans to spend more than ₹25 crore on the college over the next five years.
The lab will help students learn by doing instead of just reading books.
It can also be used by school children, teachers, startups, and inventors.
This way, students can practice solving real problems with the things they learn.
IIT Tirupati inaugurated the 'Inspire Works' Makers Lab in partnership with Kia India, marking completion of Phase A of the facility.
The lab was inaugurated by Taehyun Kim, Chief Administrative Officer of Kia India, and Prof. K. N. Satyanarayana, Director of IIT Tirupati.
The partnership began with a Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 9, 2025, and aims to help students move from conceptual ideas to functional prototypes.
The facility is expected to serve students, school students, faculty members, startups and innovators from the wider community.
The Makers Lab is part of Kia India's planned investment of more than ₹25 crore at IIT Tirupati over five years, including scholarships and research and development activities.
