EIL & OECT Partner on Helium Recovery Plant in India
EIL and OECT are working together to build a plant that will capture helium from natural gas.
Helium is a valuable gas used in many important industries, but India currently has to buy most of it from other countries.
This new project, using technology developed within India, aims to make the country self-sufficient in helium production, reducing the need to import it.
This is part of a larger plan to make India more independent in key areas and save money.
Engineers India Limited (EIL) and ONGC Energy Centre Trust (OECT) signed an agreement.
The agreement is for a Helium Recovery Demonstration Plant in Tamil Nadu.
The project aims to develop indigenous technology for helium recovery.
India currently imports approximately 70 million cubic meters of helium annually.
The project aligns with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision to reduce import dependency.
