iPhone 18 Pro Variable Aperture Camera Explained in Detail

iPhone 18 Pro Variable Aperture Camera Explained in Detail

The iPhone 18 Pro’s main camera can change the size of its opening, called the aperture.

A wider opening lets in more light, which can help in dark places.

The widest setting is ƒ/1.48, and Apple says it improves low-light performance by about 50%.

A smaller opening can keep more parts of a picture sharp.

The ƒ/1.8 setting is the default and is suited to portraits.

The ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4.0 settings provide greater depth of field for scenes where distant details should remain focused.

The camera can choose settings automatically, or users can adjust them manually with Pro Controls.

The Ultra Wide and Telephoto cameras do not have variable apertures.
