Delhi High Court Notices to Gandhis in National Herald Case
The Delhi High Court has asked Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and five others to respond to a plea by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ED is upset because a lower court refused to accept their chargesheet in a money-laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper.
The lower court said the chargesheet was invalid because it was based on a private complaint, not an official police report.
The ED argues that their chargesheet is valid and should be considered.
The Gandhis and others are accused of taking over properties worth ₹2,000 crore using a ₹90 crore loan.
The court will hear more about this on March 12.
Delhi High Court issued notices to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and five others in the National Herald money-laundering case.
The ED seeks a stay on a trial court order that rejected their chargesheet due to the absence of an FIR.
The trial court rejected the chargesheet because it was based on a private complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.
The ED argues that the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) does not require an FIR for a chargesheet.
