India Plans Real-Time Seafarer Tracking for Global Safety

India is planning a new system to help track its seafarers and respond to emergencies.

Seafarers are people who work on ships.

The system will build on a tool called the eNavik Seafarer Tracking Module.

This tool already keeps information about Indian crew members working on ships around the world.

It also records where their vessels are.

Right now, the vessel locations are updated at least once a day.

India plans to upgrade the system so locations can be updated in real time.

The goal is to improve safety and emergency responses for seafarers.
