Nagaland Govt. Expresses Concern Over Centre's Autonomy Proposal
Imagine Nagaland is like a big house, and the government wants to make sure everyone inside is happy.
Some people in the eastern part of the house want more control over their rooms.
The government has been talking with them and the central government (like the landlord).
But now, the central government is suggesting a new rule that could split the house in two.
The Nagaland government is worried because this new rule might take away some of their control, and they weren't even told about it before!
They're going to the landlord to find out what's really going on.
Nagaland government is concerned about a suggested new Constitutional provision for the Frontier Naga Territory.
The proposed provision, potentially outside Article 371A, could effectively bifurcate the state.
The state government was allegedly kept in the dark regarding Centre-ENPO discussions.
ENPO has been demanding greater autonomy for six districts of Eastern Nagaland for decades.
The Cabinet plans to travel to Delhi to clarify the Centre's intentions regarding the proposed new article.
