Karnataka High Court Defends Wife’s Autonomy in Maintenance Case

The Karnataka High Court heard a case about money for a wife and child.

A husband was ordered to pay Rs 9,000 every month.

He asked the court to change that order.

He said he worked as a porter and needed to care for his parents.

He also said his wife left their home by herself.

The High Court rejected his request.

The judge said marriage does not mean one person can control the other.

The judge also said a woman should not need permission to visit her parents.

The court kept the maintenance order in place.
