JD(U) Leader Demands Lifting of Toddy Ban in Bihar
A JD(U) leader, Munna Chaudhary, asked Bihar's CM Nitish Kumar to allow toddy, a drink, to be sold again.
He said toddy isn't really alcohol and that the ban, which has been in place since 2016, has hurt people who make their living from it, especially the Pasi community.
Many Pasis have died while collecting toddy, and their families have not received help.
Others, like Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Jitan Ram Manjhi, also want the toddy ban removed.
A JD(U) leader urged the CM to lift the ban on toddy.
The leader argued toddy is not liquor and its ban harms the Pasi community.
He stated over 500 deaths from toddy-related falls have occurred with no compensation.
The CM directed the party to study the issue and submit a report.
Tejashwi Yadav and Jitan Ram Manjhi also support lifting the toddy ban.
