Yemen, India condemn Houthi attack on Indian cargo vessel
In the Red Sea, a big cargo ship named MSV Faize Noore Oliya was sailing with Indian sailors on board.
A group called the Houthis attacked the ship using a small boat filled with explosives.
The attack made the cargo ship sink completely.
Luckily, all 14 crew members were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard and the Yemeni Navy.
Thirteen of the rescued sailors were from India, and they were brought safely to a port called Mocha.
The Yemeni government strongly condemned the attack, calling it a terrorist act and a violation of international law.
The Indian government also condemned the attack and said attacks on commercial ships are very worrying.
Leaders are concerned that such attacks could hurt trade through important sea routes.
They believe it is important to keep the seas safe so that goods can travel freely.
Houthi militants used an explosive-laden boat to sink the Indian cargo vessel MSV Faize Noore Oliya in the Red Sea on August 4, 2026.
Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called the attack a "terrorist attack" and a "flagrant violation of international law."
All 14 crew members, including 13 Indian nationals, were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard with Yemeni Navy support and taken to the Port of Mocha.
India's Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack, saying continued targeting of commercial shipping in the region is "deeply worrisome."
Security analysts say the attack signals maritime threats are spreading beyond the Strait of Hormuz and could affect shipping through the Suez Canal.
