India’s U-19 World Cup Captains: Journeys After Victory
India has won the Under-19 World Cup five times, with different captains leading the team to victory.
Mohammad Kaif, who won in 2000, is now a commentator and coach.
Virat Kohli, the 2008 captain, is still playing for India in ODIs and is a big star in the IPL.
Unmukt Chand, who won in 2012, moved to the US to play cricket there.
Prithvi Shaw, the 2018 captain, is trying to get back into the Indian team after some setbacks.
Yash Dhull, who won in 2022, had to take a break due to a heart condition but is now playing well again.
Winning the Under-19 World Cup is a big achievement, but it doesn’t always mean a player will have a long and successful career in senior cricket.
Mohammad Kaif (2000) is now a commentator and coach, known for his calm leadership.
Virat Kohli (2008) is a current ODI player and IPL star, representing India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Unmukt Chand (2012) moved to the US after retiring from Indian cricket in 2021.
Prithvi Shaw (2018) is rebuilding his career with the Delhi Capitals after a period of setbacks.
Yash Dhull (2022) is recovering from heart surgery and performing well in domestic cricket.
