How to Verify an Income Tax Notice to Avoid Scams
During tax season, people often receive official-looking notices about their income taxes.
However, some of these notices are fake and are sent by scammers.
To tell if a notice is real, there's a special code called a DIN.
If a notice has this code, it is likely genuine.
To check, go to the official tax website and enter the DIN or other details, like your PAN number.
The website will send a secret code to your phone to make sure it's really you.
If the website says the notice is real, it's safe.
If it says there's no record, the notice is fake.
Never click on links in suspicious emails or texts, and always check the official website if you are unsure.
