Supreme Court Orders Chandigarh OBC Quota in Education
The Supreme Court has told Chandigarh to start giving spots in schools and colleges to students from Other Backward Classes (OBC).
This will start in the school year 2025-26.
The court was upset that this hadn't happened yet, even though it should have.
The government said they'll make it official very soon.
They'll start with a small number of spots and add more over time, up to 27%.
If admissions have already started for this year, the new rule begins next year.
The court also wants to make sure everyone follows this rule.
Supreme Court mandates OBC reservation in Chandigarh educational institutions.
Implementation to begin in the 2025-26 academic year.
The court addressed the prolonged delay in providing OBC reservation.
A formal notification for OBC quota will be issued within a week.
Reservation will start at 3% and increase to 27% over six years.
