OPS Faction Rebrands, Explores Political Alliances
A group in the AIADMK led by O. Panneerselvam has changed its name to become a full political party.
They had a meeting on 10 December where they decided this.
The group says they are open to working with other parties like the DMK or the NDA.
They met with a big leader from the NDA, but they say this doesn't mean they will join the NDA.
Their main goal is to protect the rights of workers in the AIADMK.
They will decide their next steps based on what is best for their survival.
OPS faction rebrands as AIADMK Workers’ Rights Retrieval Kazhagam, effective 14 December.
The change comes after the AIADMK general body meeting on 10 December, which dashed hopes of a merger.
OPS faction open to alliances with DMK or NDA, but no final decisions have been made.
Meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah was for political dignity, not necessarily an alliance.
Faction's primary goal is to protect the rights of AIADMK workers, especially their right to elect the general secretary.
