Physicist's Tribute Hails India as Greatest Nation on Earth
An Indian scientist who now lives in the United States wrote a long essay praising his home country, India.
He says India is the greatest country on earth.
He talks about many things Indian people created or discovered long ago.
These include yoga, natural medicines called Ayurveda, and clever ideas in math and astronomy.
He also describes beautiful temples, music, dances, and tasty food with spices.
He thinks Western countries have not given enough credit to Indian scientists.
For example, he says Jagadish Chandra Bose invented wireless communication before Marconi got the credit.
He remembers that Americans sometimes make fun of Indian culture, but he feels proud to be Indian.
He ends by hoping India will again take a great place on the world stage and asks everyone to celebrate its 80th independence day.
An Indian physicist of Bengali origin, settled abroad, calls India 'the greatest nation on this earth.'
The essay credits ancient India with contributions in spirituality, yoga, Ayurvedic medicine, mathematics, and astronomy.
It claims the Western scientific community downplayed Indian contributions, including Jagadish Chandra Bose's invention of wireless communication.
The author says living in the US allowed him to appreciate India's cultural richness, from classical ragas to temple architecture.
The tribute ends by calling on readers to celebrate India's 80th independence day.
