Utah Judge Sends Charlie Kirk Murder Case To Trial

Utah Judge Sends Charlie Kirk Murder Case To Trial

A Utah judge decided that Tyler Robinson’s case should go to trial for the shooting death of Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was speaking at an event at Utah Valley University when he was shot.

Prosecutors say Robinson fired from a rooftop more than 400 feet away.

They say the shooting could have hurt other people in the large crowd.

The defense says only Kirk was put in danger because there was one shot, one bullet and one victim.

Prosecutors presented video, DNA testing, messages and online posts that they say connect Robinson to the shooting.

Robinson’s lawyers questioned the DNA testing and the claim that the shooting was politically motivated.

Because the judge approved the aggravated-murder charge, prosecutors may seek the death penalty.

The reports disagree about whether a not-guilty plea has already been entered, but an arraignment is expected to follow.
