Out-of-Body Trial Finds Chance Results, Raises New Questions

Scientists tested whether people having out-of-body experiences could identify something in another room.

The study involved 21 people in Brazil.

Participants looked for a random object displayed on a laptop, but their descriptions were no better than guesses.

Ten people said they had an out-of-body experience.

During later interviews, two people described researchers in a different closed room.

Those descriptions reportedly matched where the researchers were and what they were doing.

This was not part of the planned test, so the scientists do not consider it proof of seeing faraway places.

They want future studies to test whether memorable objects or hidden details are easier to describe.

The researchers published their findings in the peer-reviewed journal Explore.
