NTPC's Coal-to-SNG Facility: MOFSL's Cautious Outlook

NTPC's Coal-to-SNG Facility: MOFSL's Cautious Outlook

NTPC, a big company that makes electricity, wants to build a new facility to turn coal into something called SNG, which is like natural gas.

This idea is supported by the Indian government, but a financial expert group called MOFSL is not too excited about it.

They think the project is good because it can help NTPC use its own coal and not rely so much on imported gas.

However, they are worried about how much it will cost and if it will really work well.

MOFSL also thinks that NTPC's current gas plants aren't being used much, and this new project might not change that for a few years.

They kept their rating for NTPC's stock as 'Neutral' and said it might go up a little in price, but not a lot.

They also mentioned that making gas from coal is hard in India because the coal has a lot of ash, and China is much better at it.

The government is giving some money to help with these projects, but NTPC needs to show that it can do this cheaply and reliably before people will pay more for its stock.
