Indian Stocks Rebound as Crude Oil Prices Retreat
Indian stock markets finished higher after spending most of the day in negative territory.
The Sensex and Nifty are major measures of how Indian shares are performing.
Buying increased during the final hour of trading.
A major reason was that crude oil prices fell sharply.
Lower oil prices can improve sentiment among investors.
Brent crude dropped 3% to USD 89.32 per barrel.
Analysts said expected US sanctions against Iran were less severe than markets had anticipated.
This helped oil prices and bond yields move down from recent highs.
The gains came on the monthly derivatives expiry day, when some investors also closed or adjusted positions.
The Sensex rose 286.98 points, or 0.37%, to close at 77,656.09.
The Nifty gained 115.50 points, or 0.48%, ending at 24,334.55.
A sharp decline in Brent crude prices helped lift investor sentiment and prompted late buying.

InterGlobe Aviation, Adani Ports, Infosys, Trent, Titan and State Bank of India were among the major gainers.
