Gurgaon Lawyer, Husband, and Aide Arrested for Extortion Racket
A lawyer in Gurgaon and her husband are accused of a scam where they filed fake child abuse reports, called POCSO cases, against men.
They did this when these men were already going through divorces.
The goal was to scare the men into paying money to make the fake charges go away.
The police caught them after one of these fake complaints was investigated and found to be using fake documents.
The lawyer's helper, a balloon seller, admitted to filing the fake report for them.
When police searched the lawyer's home, they found a lot of cash and gold, suggesting they had been doing this for a while and possibly targeted many men.
The lawyer was reportedly representing wives in these divorce cases and used this method to help them get more money.
A lawyer, her husband, and an aide were arrested in Gurgaon for allegedly extorting money by filing fake child sexual abuse (POCSO) cases.
The trio reportedly targeted men in marital disputes, filing false POCSO cases to pressure them into paying money.
The scheme was uncovered when a man, impersonated by the aide, filed a forged complaint that was later found to be fake.
Police recovered over Rs 1.14 crore in cash and gold worth Rs 2.88 crore, along with other incriminating items, from the couple's residence.
Authorities believe at least two dozen men were victims of this racket, and investigations are ongoing into others connected to the accused.
