Telangana Rains Flood Reservoirs, Disrupt Roads, Power Generation Continues
Heavy rain in Telangana made many rivers and streams overflow.
Big water tanks called reservoirs got a lot of water, almost filling them up.
The Jurala reservoir opened gates to let water flow downstream and kept generating electricity.
Some roads and bridges were washed away, so people had trouble getting around.
Farmers liked the rain because it helped grow rice, but some coal mines had to stop working because of the water.
Heavy rains across Telangana caused reservoirs like Jurala, Sriramsagar, Nizamsagar, and Singur to receive large inflows, with water levels approaching full reservoir levels.
Jurala project released 10 gates, discharging about 81,695 cusecs downstream, while maintaining power generation of 395 MW.
Nizamsagar and Sriramsagar levels rose to 1,395.83 ft and 1,065 ft respectively, storing 7.146 TMC and 16 TMC of water.
Roads and bridges were disrupted in several districts, such as Kappala Vagu, Mutyalamma Vagu, and Dhup Singh Thanda Vagu, causing connectivity issues.
The rains also benefited farmers, boosting paddy transplantation and filling tanks, while coal production was disrupted in Singareni opencast mines.
