NIA Chargesheets 7 for Radicalizing Youth via Arabic Classes
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in India has filed charges against seven people and an organization called Kovai Arabic Educational Association (KAEA).
They are accused of teaching Arabic classes to young people but actually using these classes to teach them bad and dangerous ideas.
The NIA found out that these classes, which were held online and in person, were used to spread messages that encourage terrorism.
This case is related to a car bomb explosion that happened in Coimbatore in 2022, where many of the students involved in the explosion had attended these Arabic classes.
The NIA is trying to stop these activities to keep people safe.
The NIA filed a supplementary chargesheet against seven accused and the Kovai Arabic Educational Association (KAEA) for radicalizing youths under the guise of free Arabic classes.
The case was registered in August 2023 and is related to the October 2022 Coimbatore car bomb blast.
Fourteen of the 18 accused in the Coimbatore blast were students of Kovai Arabic College, which functioned under the KAEA society.
Radical sermons were disseminated via online Arabic classes conducted through platforms like Zoom, WhatsApp, and Telegram, as well as through regular classroom sessions.
The seven accused named in the chargesheet were students of Jameel Basha, the principal of Madras Arabic College.
