RBI Sets Redemption Price for Sovereign Gold Bonds
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that investors in two types of gold bonds will get ₹12,801 for each unit they own.
One type of bond was issued in 2017, and the other is set to mature in 2025.
People who bought the 2017 bonds paid ₹2,954 for each unit and have been earning 2.5% interest every year.
The price is based on the average value of gold over the past three working days.
The RBI did this to help people see the benefits of investing in gold bonds instead of buying physical gold.
RBI announced a redemption price of ₹12,801 per unit for two series of sovereign gold bonds.
Investors in the 2017-18 Series-XI bonds will receive ₹12,801 per unit at redemption.
