Young Kolkatans Reject Apple’s Rs 3-Lakh iPhone Duo
Would you buy the Rs 3-lakh iPhone Duo? Not for us, say young Kolkatans · telegraphindia.com

Apple’s new iPhone Duo is being sold in India with a starting price of Rs 3 lakh.

My Kolkata asked young people in Kolkata whether they would buy it.

None of the six people interviewed said yes.

Some thought the phone was too expensive for what it does.

Others said the money would be more useful in gold, stocks, businesses or savings.

One person suggested buying it from Dubai or the UK to pay less.

A content creator said the same money could buy cameras and other equipment.

Another person preferred an iPad or using an existing Samsung phone.

Overall, the interviewees saw the iPhone Duo as a luxury rather than a necessary phone.

Quotes

Pramit Bhattacharya

Entrepreneur from Kolkata

“I will not buy a Rs 3 lakh phone because I believe there are other value-for-money devices that already exist in the market. Also, from a content creator’s perspective, the dominant section of iPhone users within the moderate-income group, one can easily arrange a beginner-level setup with the same amount of money, such as mirrorless cameras, Nikon Z5 series and so on.”

“I don’t think I would spend Rs 3 lakh on the iPhone Duo. At that price, for me, it stops being just a phone and becomes a luxury purchase. I would rather put that money into something that has a longer-term value, perhaps investing in my business, upgrading equipment, or simply keeping it as a financial cushion.”
