Suisun City Declares State of Emergency Following Cyberattack on Systems

A city in California called Suisun City was attacked by bad computer software.

The virus broke into the computers the city uses to run its services.

This included the system that helps route 911 emergency calls.

To stop the virus from spreading, officials turned off all the city's computers.

Even with the computers off, police and firefighters still answer emergency calls.

Those calls are now sent to a nearby county's dispatch centre instead.

Some online services, like paying water bills, are paused for now.

City leaders met on Saturday and voted to declare a state of emergency.

This lets the city get special money and technical help from the state.

Experts are now working to safely fix the city's computer systems.
