India's Direct Tax Collections Rise 8%
India's net direct tax collections have grown by 8% to ₹17.05 lakh crore from April to mid-December 2025.
This growth is mainly because companies paid more taxes and the government gave out fewer refunds.
Corporate taxes increased by 10.5%, while taxes from individuals grew by 6.4%, which is slower than expected.
The government has lowered personal income tax rates to help people keep more of their money, which might be why individual tax collections grew more slowly.
The government aims to collect ₹25.20 lakh crore in direct taxes this year, but it still needs to collect ₹8.15 lakh crore to meet this goal.
India's net direct tax collections rose by 8% to ₹17.05 lakh crore from April to mid-December 2025.
Gross direct tax collections grew by 4.16% year-on-year to ₹20,01,794 crore.
Net corporate tax collections increased by 10.5% to ₹8,17,310 crore, while net non-corporate tax collections grew by 6.4% to ₹8,46,905 crore.
Tax refunds issued declined by 13.52% to ₹2,97,069 crore.
The government aims to collect ₹25.20 lakh crore in direct taxes for the year, with ₹8.15 lakh crore remaining to meet the target.
