Optimist Raises $12 Mn for AC Innovation
Ashish Goel, who used to be the CEO of Urban Ladder, has started a new company called Optimist.
They make air conditioners (ACs) that are designed especially for India's hot and humid weather.
The company just got $12 million from investors like Accel and Arkam Ventures.
They plan to use this money to make more ACs, do more research, and get ready to sell them starting in February 2026.
The first stores will open in places like Delhi, Rajasthan, and Hyderabad.
The goal is to make ACs that work better in India's heat, use less electricity, and are more comfortable for people.
Optimist, founded by Ashish Goel and Pranav Chopra, raised $12 Mn in seed and pre-Series A funding.
The startup aims to develop ACs specifically designed for Indian conditions, focusing on high-heat regions.
Funding will be used to scale manufacturing, deepen R&D, and prepare for a market launch in February 2026.
Optimist's ACs are designed to be more energy-efficient and effective in extreme heat compared to traditional models.
Initial sales will start digitally and through exclusive brand stores in Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
