Tata Sons Moves Toward Listing Despite Tata Trusts Opposition

Tata Sons is the main company that sits at the center of the Tata group.

A regulator called the RBI says the company must put its shares on the stock market.

Tata Sons had tried to leave the RBI’s regulatory system instead, but that request was rejected.

The RBI classified Tata Sons as a type of financial company that must be listed.

Tata Trusts owns most of Tata Sons and does not want the company listed.

The Trusts says earlier decisions, including one made during Ratan Tata’s time, supported keeping it private.

The Shapoorji Pallonji family, another major shareholder, supports listing because it could make shares easier to trade and reveal their value.

Tata Sons is now trying to follow the RBI’s instructions while its shareholders remain divided.
