US-Iran War: Trump Says US Controls Strait of Hormuz '100%'
The United States and Iran are in a war.
Iran closed a very important water road called the Strait of Hormuz.
Huge ships carrying oil travel through this road every day.
The US Navy went to take control of it and clear away underwater mines.
President Trump says the US now controls the strait completely.
Iran says it will not open the strait until the US stops blocking its ports.
Because the strait is closed, the price of oil is going up.
Both sides want the other country to pay for damage caused by the war.
There are also peace talks between Lebanon and Israel, and the US says a group called Hezbollah is trying to stop them.
World leaders are still hoping the fighting can end soon.
President Trump said the US Navy has '100%' control of the Strait of Hormuz and has cleared it of mines.
Iran said it will not reopen the strait until Washington ends its blockade of Iranian ports.
The strait normally carries roughly one-fifth of the world's traded oil, and its closure has become the war's most lasting consequence.
Brent crude climbed to $87.82 a barrel and WTI rose above $82 as tensions persisted.
A US State Department official accused Hezbollah of trying to sabotage Lebanon-Israel talks, while Washington said it remains optimistic.
Iran demanded the US lift its blockade and sanctions, release frozen assets and pay compensation, while Trump said Iran should pay for war damages.
